Catherine Grawin, a native Californian, is an oil painter of landscape, still life and abstract work. A true colorist, her bold and loose brushwork is her signature style that appeals to collectors in the US and abroad. Her art education includes a BA degree from SDSU in Graphic Design and Communication, with post-graduate work in Architectural Design and Rendering. Some of her noteworthy art teachers include Sebastian Capella, John Asaro, Joe Garcia and Pat Kelly.

Plein Air Painters of Santa Ysabel, California. Her work is represented at the
Santa Ysabel Art Gallery, Santa Ysabel, CA and Cosmopolitan Fine Arts, La Jolla, CA.
Catherine teaches the
Painting alla Prima in Oils method in her Solana Beach studio. Other venues include
Plein Air Painting and California Impressionist Painting at
UCSD Extension and
Painting alla Prima in Oils - Get Loose! at the
La Jolla Athenaeum School of Arts. She gives public painting demonstrations and has been invited to judge art shows.

The combination of nature and painterly pursuits fits Catherine just right. Her restored Airstream serves as a traveling studio and comfy accommodation while she looks for inspiration over the next hill.
Grawin also owns
ADLib Graphic Design, Solana Beach, CA, since 1991. She has art directed national and regional magazine publications, coffee table books and designed corporate identities and marketing campaigns.
